Dec. 13th, 2018 12:49 pm
Hi folks! This is my first time running an exchange so bare with me please! The sign ups are on Ao3 and I will not be doing this the typical way because our fandom is kind of all over the place right now so this post will be on Tumblr and Pillowfort as well as The Steter Network Discord where it has already been shared. To view the finished works please visit the collection on and after Valentines day!

FAQ:
1. Do an even number of participants need to sign up? Nope. The author pairings are not reciprocal
2. How many requests can I make? The minimum is 3.The max you can request is 5.
3. How many offers can I give? The minimum is 3. I suggest you only offer tropes that you are confident and interested in writing. If you don't feel excited about a trope, the likelihood of you finishing your assignment goes down. The maximum offer amount is 5.
4. How is matching done? I'm using the AO3 algorithm, not hand matching.
5. Can I request not to be matched with someone? No. This is a relaxed exchange, and I expect you to enter this event with an open mind. If you are matched with someone you don't like, just do your best with the request. If you absolutely hate the person you are assigned, we can discuss swapping, but I cannot guarantee it'll happen.
6. Is this an anonymous exchange? No. When the fics go live, the authors will be revealed.
7. Is there a place to list my triggers and squicks? In the request/offer boxes you can list things you do not want to read or write. Be specific about things that upset you so your author will be better equipped to tailor a fic for you.
8. I don't have a specific plot I want to request, what do I do? It's always good to list tropes and genres you enjoy in your request. The more an author has to work with, the better chance there is that the author will enjoy writing your fic. Enjoying the writing process usually leads to better quality fic.
9. Can I be super specific with my plot?
You can, but that sometimes leads to stress for the author. They might feel obligated to follow your plot, point by point, even when they don't feel inspired. It's better, in my experience, to request a general plot and list some aspects you'd prefer to read in said plot.
Ex: Stiles and Peter have to fake date at a conference, but emotions start feeling a little too real for Peter. I like miscommunication, cuddling, angst with a happy ending, scent marking, and I would really like some jealousy. No knotting or violence please.
10. Are you using tags besides ships in the sign-ups?
Yes. I'm allowing tags for genres/tropes/others. I'm not utilizing the archive warnings or rating system tags for the sign-ups. If you don't want something, make sure you are specific in it (i.e. "no underage" or "no gen"). Using the tags frees up your notes section for dislikes/triggers and any plot notes you wish to give
11. How do I know my matchee will want the format I offer?
Okay so Ao3 doesn't have a place for us to pick "Fanfiction" "Artwork" and/or "Edit+Playlist" so please put one or more of those tags in your offers AND requests. I'm hoping that will smooth things out and We'll get matched correctly. If you don't get matched with someone who wants your format of gift just message me!
